Track a flight

I would like to add a specific flight number and then be able to watch its whole flight from end to end --- It would be great to have a dedicated "My Flights" collection containing aircraft I've previously flown on. When any of those aircraft are currently airborne, they could automatically appear in a dynamic list or filter. Selecting an aircraft from this list would activate a new Follow Flight mode. Instead of centring the map on a fixed airport or geographic location, the map would automatically centre on and follow the chosen aircraft in real time as it progresses along its route. Additional enhancements could include: - Showing how many times I've flown on that aircraft. - Displaying previous routes and dates flown. - Notifications when one of "my" aircraft takes off. - Quick switching between multiple tracked aircraft. - An option to compare the aircraft's current route with routes I've personally flown on it. This would turn Tiny Desk Radar from a location-based flight viewer into a more personal aircraft-tracking experience, allowing users to reconnect with aircraft they've travelled on and watch their journeys live.

Add a unique number to each pre order unit

For those who pre-ordered, it would be cool to issue each a unique 'number out of total' I.e. 120/7000 :)

Airport view

I'd like to see the runway, taxiways and terminals of a specific airport and then see the planes moving around it

Interchangeable face plate?

Option to purchase different front face plates in the future, different colours, themes or maybe upgrade to a metal face plate.

Weather Radar

Is it possible to show weather information around you? If possible with a view like the one pilot sees on their navigation display

Marine view

I live near a harbour and it would be so cool to watch the ships on the radar coming in and out, is that possible?

Flight Radar 24

Hi Tom I don’t know if it’s a positive or negative, but have you thought about, I’m sure you have, integrating FlightRadar24 ? If it’s possible, then I’m sure there will be loads of subscribers out there willing to integrate… though I’m sure they may well cancel their subscription’s to FR24 once you launch :man_shrugging: Good luck with all that you are doing… Matt

Could it show the ISS when overhead?

It would be brief given its speed I guess.

QRA scramble alerts

I’m not sure how easy this would be to program, but what about a specific alert when there’s a QRA scramble? They only ever use specific call signs (like RIGID for example) so maybe you could have an alert linked to those call signs?

Blip sounds

Make a 'blip' sound as it sweeps and highlights aircraft. Available as a Preference and able to be turned on and off.

Connect a DB(A) loudness meter

This could be implemented in three ways: 1. physically, by integrating a microphone capable of accurately measuring and recording the sound levels produced by the aircraft shown on the display; 2. wirelessly, by connecting to a smartphone and using its built-in microphone to measure sound levels; or 3. similarly to option 2, but through a dedicated app designed specifically to measure, record, and log aircraft noise. This is primarily a consumer product, but it could also be valuable to residents of cities and villages near airports. It would allow them to measure and record aircraft noise objectively, providing credible data that could form a solid basis for discussions with municipalities, airport authorities, and national government.

Founder's Edition

How about a Founder's Edition for early supporters. Maybe a unique enclosure color/colour for example.

Screenshots

On device screenshots. The video with the ‘I love you’ sky writing got me thinking it would be a cool idea if we saw something like that to be able to capture and share it.

In AppVirtual TDR Travel Companion

I was thinking of a Virtual TDR view in the app, mainly for when you’re away from the physical unit, like travelling, at work or on holiday. It could use the phone’s location and show the same aircraft data with a familiar TDR-style radar view, using the same sort of range, colours and display options. The important bit would be that it only becomes available once you’ve paired or registered a real Tiny Desk Radar. So it’s an extra feature for TDR owners, not something that replaces the physical product. Basically, your Tiny Desk Radar when you can’t take your Tiny Desk Radar with you!

Save Aircraft

Not sure if this has already been suggested, but having the ability to save an aircraft in the app that you've spotted would be a cool feature. Living in Kent we get a lot of Spitfire flights and occasionally we get other 'heritage' aircraft flying over. Would love to be able to spot a plane on the radar and jump into the app to save it and get a notification when it's within X amount of miles. Would save the last minute running outside and spotting them when their already gone!

An option to display met office weather data at the chosen location. People would think its just a weather monitor, until you click the button and it switches to the radar like a secret spy gadget !

On/off switch or button

I think it would be very practical if the TDR had a power switch or button. If you have to unplug the cable or plug it in to control this it is impractical. Hoping that is already planned…?

Filter by altitude.

Only show targets below a user definable height (e.g. only display aircraft below 3,000ft and not show any aircraft above that height).

Use old military flight strips somehow

I used to be Military ATC back in a previous life and one of the main things I remember from it was having to fill in the paper strips with flight details. I wonder if it doesn’t cost a huge amount whether you could have a fake plastic one that sticks out from the bottom, almost like a ledge. Hard to articulate what I am thinking but I have put a picture of the slips below as an idea of what they look like (if you didn’t know).
